Got up late, was feeling a bit hungover, and didn't expect a sail today since forecast wasn't good. But by 2pm couldn't help but notice that the trees outside were starting to wave at me. Checked the Lee-on-Solent weather station and yes, 15 knots being reported. Still didn't feel 100% up for it, also no-one else was around, but thought sod it a sail would do me good.

Was very worried about the wind on the drive to Hillhead. But arrived Salterns 4pm and my fears were allayed - a solid breeze. 6.0 or 5.2 - couldn't decide again - went for the 5.2 since I didn't fancy being overpowered today.

I was a fraction underpowered at the start. Came in to change up fins and as often happens when you go bigger.....the wind picked up! Woohoo! After 30 mins of ankle cranking had to come in again to change down fins again. Then I was sorted.

And an absolutely stonking session ensued. Solidly powered on the 5.2, had to come in to whack max downhaul on it later on. Never had any trouble getting planing on either tack or staying upwind, unlike on last Wednesday. Made virtually all my gybes dry, and planed out of a couple of normal gybes and duck gybes on the inside. Oh yeah. Went for body drags on the inside but still just flopping into the water when I jump off. Anyway, everything just felt really good and I came off the water impressed with how much I've improved recently. Still buzzing now as I write this (next morning). I feel like I'm cheating a bit giving this session 5 stars cos it's not as if it was absolute best ever. But t'was one of those sessions that turned out way better than expected, so good after a few very disappointing efforts last week, plus I'm feeling generous today, so for the first time ever - 5 stars it is.
